Key Words and Phrase Checklist for your Wine Maker Journal Blogs

We have put together a short overview of a way to structure your Wine Journal Blogs to maximize your exposure within the search engine optimization process. These tips are based on the algorithms and procedures the search engines use to track websites, content and deliver results.

Title: Your title should be interesting to peek the readers interest, relatively short with you’re your key phrase within the title, but relevant to the subject of your entry. (key words/phrases are what you would normally use to search Google, MSN or Yahoo)

Subject Category(s): Choose only the relevant category when selecting from the drop down menus. Remember this is a tool to aid in reader narrow down content for relevancy.

Opening Descriptive Statement: Your opening statement should be a bit more descriptive, again using key phrases that are relevant to what the reader will find in the entry. It should also include primary subject and your winery name. For example, “a wonderful cabernet blend from ABC winery located in XYZ state / region.”

Key Words and Key Phrase Density: You wine journal or blog entry should include all of the relevant keywords, phrases and other text within the body of your entry. You do not want to overdue anything, but instead make it ‘read’ naturally. A good rule to follow would be to write your entry as naturally as possible. Once completed, go through it and add the few key words or phrases you desire. A total keyword density (all keywords) of around 10% to 15% is the maximum you should aim for and anything less than 5% is unlikely to yield good results. Density for a single keyword should be between 3% and 5%. You should try to keep the keywords together when making up a phrase. Breaking them apart will likely not yield as good results.

Closing Text: This should be a concise summary of your entry with the most relevant key word or phrase to “close” the entry out.

Signature: Your signature will be your signing off to the reader. It will also be your calling card for them to get more information. Therefore you will want to include your winery/business/name, website address and telephone number, etc. It is also probably best to wrap it into a “tag line” of sorts that is inviting and concise.

Throughout the entire entry, you should be concise and non-repetitive. You want the reader to learn, be intrigued or click through to your website and take your desired action.
