Bring Your Own Wine Trend Picks Up Steam in San Francisco

To close or to go BYO, that is the question

SAN FRANCISCO, May 7 (GrapeVineTrail) -- DiningInfo, the restaurant survey company, today reported robust growth in the number of restaurants that permit patrons to bring their own wine. This is good news for both budget-conscious diners and wine aficionados.

After surveying 1,543 restaurants in the San Francisco area in the month of April, DiningInfo added 81 BYO-friendly restaurants, all of which previously did not permit BYO. Now, there are a total of 2,720 restaurants in the San Francisco area that permit BYO, 265 of which have no charge for corkage. San Francisco leads the country in the percentage of restaurants that permit BYO - 64.5%.

During the same period, 44 other restaurants surveyed were found to have closed down, suggesting that the survivors discovered BYO as a viable way to attract more business in these difficult economic times.

Complete details about all 2,720 restaurants in the San Francisco area that currently permit BYO, including their corkage fees, can be found at www.GoBYO.com.

About GoBYO.com

Launched in early April, GoBYO.com focuses exclusively on restaurants that permit BYO. The website provides free public access to extensive information about each restaurant, along with multiple search options. In addition to its own "Wine-Friendly Ratings" GoBYO also provides a "Composite Rating," a novel approach that averages the ratings of each rated restaurant from across the Internet.

Additionally, GoBYO.com provides direct links to restaurant websites, a "Find Reviews" function that automatically customizes a Google Web search for reviews of a particular restaurant, a "View Menu" function to pull up the menu of the restaurant if it is posted on AllMenus.com, and a "Reserve a Table" function to make reservations through OpenTable.com.
