Iowa Wine and Beer Take "Tipsy" Top Honors at State Fair

DES MOINES, IA (08/15/2009)(GrapeVineTrail)-- Three Iowans won Best of Show honors in the Oenology competition judged prior to the 2009 Iowa State Fair.

Jeff Fitzgerald of Newhall won Best of Show in the Grape Wine Division for his dry red wine, Amarone. Story City resident Larry Reisetter took Best of Show honors in the Non-Grape Division with his berry sweet cranberry/grape wine. Boone's own Rick Srigler was awarded Best of Show in the Beer Division for his American Imperial Pale Ale.

The contests took place on August 1 and August 2. Nearly 100 exhibitors offered 355 beer and wine samples for judging.

Oenology entries will be on display in the Wine Experience at Grandfather's Barn from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily throughout the Fair, August 13-23.
