San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) February 04, 2012

San Franciscans love good Italian food, and love is what it’s all about at Palio d’Asti this Valentine’s Day. The restaurant (voted one of the best San Francisco Italian restaurants in the Bay Area by SFGate readers in 2010) is hosting a very special—and very Italian—prix fixe dinner for on Monday, February 14 with pre-holiday specials supplementing the regular menu on Saturday, February 12. Located in San Francisco’s downtown financial district, Palio’s Michelin-rated comfortable ambiance, cozy white tablecloth tables and booths , inventive cocktails, and Wine-Spectator-award-winning wine list are sure to appeal to lovers from all over the Bay Area.

For $75 per couple, hungry lovebirds can enjoy a three-course prix fixe menu with several choices of Italian favorites that combine traditional preparation with local and organic ingredients. Starters include Hearts of Romaine with Dates, Walnuts, and Goat Cheese; Linguini with Dungeness Crab, San Marzano Tomato Sauce, and Calabrese Chilies; and Minestra Maritata “Neapolitan Wedding Soup”, a traditional dish that marries five preparations of pork braised with greens, garlic, chile and parmigiano. Enticing entrée offerings feature a veritable culinary tour of Italy from Roasted Snapper Romana with a three-herb salsa verde, braised artichokes and sunchokes and Marsala-Glazed Organic Chicken with Sundried Tomato Tapenade and Sicilian-Style Spinach to veal and vegetarian offerings including Pumpkin Ravioli with Brussels Sprouts in Brown Sage Butter Topped with Piave Cheese and Amaretti Crumbs.

“Palio has lots of regulars and we have no intention of taking advantage of them just because it’s Valentine’s Day. That’s why our special Valentine’s Day three-course prix fixe menu is being offered at our regular prices,” explained chef owner Dan Scherotter. “I want everyone to be able to afford to splurge on special wine and hope to see them sharing tastes with their dates—because there’s nothing sexier than being fed by a loved one. That especially goes for our desserts such as a Sweet Winter Ménage A Trois For Two To Share of chocolate, citrus, cream and nuts; Devil’s Food Chocolate Cake with Hazelnut Dulce Di Leche Sauce; Buttermilk Panna Cotta with Blood Oranges, Grapefruit and Chestnut Honey; or our exclusive Amedei Chocolate Truffles flavored with lemon, tangerine, hazelnut and pistachio.”

For those dining out early over the weekend, Palio will offer Amore Specials as part of its regular mix and match prix fixe dinner menu on Saturday, February 12 from 5 to 9pm. The price of two courses is $31 per person, three courses is $38 per person, and four courses is $45 per person.
